February Updates: Kindle Pricing & Book #2

As previously mentioned, I have ended my sale on my first book, Musings on Minutiae. It was $0.99 for a year and hopefully you, the reader, took advantage of the great price! If you did pick up a copy of the book, it’d mean the world to me if you could drop a review on Amazon. If you’ve yet to pick up a copy, the paperback is still just $10 and the Kindle version can be downloaded for just $1.99 (which is still quite a steal).

I’ve recently spent some time working on book #2 and according to my tracker in the sidebar, I’m running at about %49 percent completion. This is pre-editing phase, so things may get shorter or longer once I revisit them. Currently, I have 11 essays written for the book and I feel strongly that each of them will rival anything from the first book. I’m also taking a different approach this round in quality over quantity. Upon release you’ll notice that these stories are much longer than the previous, taking the time to find the humor in the little details and events within the big picture. It will be an interesting mix of short and long essays we well as some great one-liners that I’ve been compiling.

Lots of reviewers said that my last book was great for the bathroom. This one will be no exception!

I added some (what I deem to be) fun new things to the website. To your left in the sidebar you can now stalk me on Facebook, follow me on Twitter, or see what books I’ve read recently with just the click of a button! Also, I’ve added a word counter to the top of the sidebar where I will track the progress on my second humor book! I’ve made a small dent already, and the end goal may change a bit, but this will help to keep me motivated and if anyone asks “Hey Wes, how’s your next book coming along?” I can say “I pity da fool who don’t be watchin’ dat word counter!”

I’m not sure if Mr. T impressions hold up when written. You tell me.

ALSO – Remember that the Kindle version of my first book, Musings on Minutiae, is still just $0.99 until February! Get it while it’s still the same price as a Nickelback song on iTunes! (Wouldn’t you rather give me your money? I mean, let’s not encourage them!)

Over the past few years while promoting my self-published humor book, Musings on Minutiae, I’ve had to handle the entire marketing process on my own. However, using my strong DIY background I’ve been able to be creative with it and utilize a lot of online resources to garner attention and make sales. I’ve written some very in-depth articles in the past on how to use these online sites and have added a new one to give you some tips and suggestions for how to utilize the social networking giant, Facebook, to market your book.

Greetings!

As Twenty Twelve (not two thousand twelve) (Yes, that’s the correct way of saying it) (I mean, seriously, when it was 1999 did you pronounce it as one thousand, nine hundred ninety-nine?) (of course you didn’t) is upon us, I thought it only right to come out of hibernation to tell my friends and fans what’s been happening in the Locher camp recently.

In 2009 I released my humor book, Musings on Minutiae, which you probably purchased and read (I mean, you DID, right??). After that I spent the majority of the year that followed promoting the book and collecting reviews, and I did a bunch of interviews and podcasts as well. I also wrote some helpful articles about how to promote your book online. The knowledge supplied came from my own experiences as they continue to be the number one thing bringing traffic to this site.

Then in 2011 I disappeared. Actually, I didn’t disappear. I paused on the humor thing and started writing comic books.
YES. YOU READ THAT CORRECTLY. Comic books.

Always a fan growing up, I decided to stretch my creative wings and wrote 4 different stories, one of which was recently picked up by a publisher and will be in stores in 2013. I haven’t signed the non-disclosure yet, so I’m not exactly sure how much I’m allowed to talk about. The last thing I need are ninjas jumping through my windows and slicing my head off.

So that brings us back to this little website for a little funny book I published at the end of 2009/beginning of 2010 – Musings on Minutiae. What I’ve decided is that 2012 will (ideally) be the year that I release my next humor book. In fact, it’s more than just an ambition right now, I’d say that 50% percent of it is already written and I even have a title picked out! This is good news for you, the reader since if you liked that book, you’ll probably really dig this one as well.

I’ll be revisiting this site over the coming months with new content and new stories, but it’s very important to me that the bulk of this new book is previously unpublished so that you get the biggest bang for your buck!

Also, since no one pays me to do this writing thing, I will soon be ending my 1.5 year long sale that I’ve had on the Kindle edition of Musings for just $0.99. Click here to get it while you still can!
